Blue Clog
Most Swedish weddings have a Master of Ceremonies, whose job it is to see that everything goes off as it should. Often he or she will lead the couple in a game at the wedding reception to see who knows what about each other and how they contribute to the maintenance of the relationship. Here's what you need to make this work.
- Seat the couple back to back on a chair. Make sure there's a little distance between them.)
- Give both the bride and the groom a new pair of clogs.
- Invite both the bride and the groom to hold one of the new clogs.
- Questions are asked of the couple (who does most of the cooking, who manages the money, who takes care of the cars, who mows the lawn the most frequently, etc.) The questions should range between serious and silly. But there shouldn't be more than 15-25 questions. (This is supposed to be fun, not boring!)
- When the questions are asked, the bride or the groom should raise his or her hand when they think they're the person most responsible for a task.
Given people's tendency to always see themselves as the person with prime responsibility for everything, this can lead to a lot of hilarity as both claim responsibility for their shared life. It makes everyone think about their marriages and possible misunderstandings, but mostly it makes everyone laugh. A good, clever (and kind, always kind) Master of Ceremonies can make this a very fun part of the reception.
