Dot Size
A question appears repeatedly when producing artwork for use on a stand popup, bannerstand or other major application print format - "What dpi should I save images?
It is impossible to answer without knowing more information about the size the original, what size it should be expanded to the subject matter, how it should be used in the design and how it was produced and a number of other factors. We can consider that perhaps the issue is not the right one to be asked, but I will return to that later.
The first thing to consider is the start. Most images available in libraries of images and those from professional photographers specifically for the project has arisen on a digital camera. At the time of writing the highest resolution available are approximately 15 million pixels. So we can deduce that, for a photographic image size of pixels maximum that can be achieved for a single image is 4492 pixels x 3328 pixels (which gives an image 42.8M). This therefore gives us a maximum attainable size image file 42.8M.
Just to have a handle on why that is significant Well now this picture in terms of dpi to the screen - resolution 72 dpi it will lead to a dimension Physical approximately 158cm x 117cm With a print resolution of 600 dpi, large format printers are the most capable of this equates to a physical size 38cm x 28cm: The two images are showing the same amount of information but it is 5 times the size of the other! Then you begin to see that the Department the review is meaningless without knowing also the physical size that you want to achieve.
This concept will be further complicated by the fact that the printer Large format prints one specific resolution, regardless of the image information that is sent as it will interpolate (add or remove information of pixels) according to the specific height of the dot pattern. So, to return to the question This initial dpi image must be saved to, for a particular purpose, it is perhaps the most effective thing in terms of how much information there of - megabyte size, and its suitability for expansion (ie the image quality and complexity of detail)
As indication it may be useful to think in terms of an image covering an entire booth pop-up. To give a good balance between quality printing and the final file size, I recommend a file size of around 150MB - 200MB. No, I have not forgotten that the original image was 42Mb or less, but it is worth increasing the pixel size of the image using interpolation (or "Resing up ') to minimize enlargement shape pixel thus avoiding any form of block or pixelation. If the image covers about half of this area, it must be only half the size File and so on. Another way to calculate this would save the image to approximately 25MB for each square meter of covered area.
