Flops Thongs

Being a teacher, I must be very careful with my vocabulary. Even when I'm saying words I must be careful so that students do not misinterpret what I say. If I do not do that then there may be some very embarrassing because the student has misunderstood or poorly understood what I said. I want to be a good example to my students and use words appropriately and avoid embarrassing moments. Using less familiar words to help students acquire vocabulary and some of them have to look for words they know or not to try to understand what I said ..

In the last few years, I found myself in front once more a classroom full of students with their mouths hanging open, looking at me with astonishment. How dare I say it? So I find myself explaining to them that when I was young, it had a meaning totally different than it has today. Now, over the years what happened with a few words like gay. Many songs used as follows: "Let's all be happy and gay, but not homosexuals that our students think. Gay is not really hard to explain students and they get a laugh from him. But another word leaves them looking surprised. So what's the word. The word is 'String'. Thong Now When I was young "was what you wore on your feet. Now students refer to them as flip flops.

This has led to several embarrassing moments children when I said they can not wear flip flops on a field trip and I did not leave on the bus if they have to. Their answer, of course, is "Will you check?" Oops!

To correct this mistake I decided to find alternative words to use for items that I wear on my feet. Boy, what a list. When I went searching in the list was so long I had to make a choice. Obviously multicultured our society has adopted many words from other cultures shoes. So now I made a list of words that I use for shoes. I did not know there were so many, and they are only ones I heard.

Cover what I called them, they are now Arctics, boots, galoshes, ski boots, slippers, boots, hip storm rubbers, rubber toe

Shoes sports and tennis shoes was what I called them, now they are running shoes, Nikes, running shoes, smart shoes, sport sandals, DAP, shoes Deck shoes, drugs, flyers, gymmers, tops, joggers, Saboga, skipper, slides, speed shoes, sports shoes track shoes, and wrestling shoes and odor eaters.

Then when you go out into the street and look down at anyone passing by shoes and you will see: moccasins, slippers, moccasins, sandals, platforms, pumps, oxfords, Wellington
cleats, sling pumps, clogs, slippers, tap, toed shoes, spurs, spikes, ballet slippers, roller skates and strips. Beware tongs and Wedgies. Oh, oh, I'll have to pick one Wedgies or another that I'll have another class shocked.
