Gap Crib

Should there be a gap between a crib and a mattress IKEA?

We recently purchased the crib from Ikea LEKSVIK for his safety senior. However, after assembling the cradle correctly and inserting the proper size mattress, we found there was a gap (approximately 1.5 inches on both sides). A suggestng used bumper to fill gaps, but that sounds too risky. Has anyone encountered this problem?

there should be absolutely no whatsever gap between the mattress and baby bed ALL (and do not use bumpers either!) The mattress Cribs must always be level with the sides and ends to prevent Getting Any legs or head / face pasted or suffocated in the gaps. Take a look at the bed again and that all pieces are mounted in the right direction around (not in reverse etc..) I just googled this crib and found a few things where people complain about the gap and how dangerous it is. It can not be sure of this gap and there is no way I would use a crib with a gap like that.
