Ralph Marlin is the name that is associated with the manufacturer of popular ties, Ralph Marlin and Company, but Ralph Marlin was never really a designer tie. The story behind the company is as unique as the links themselves. The fictional story begins with just who is this man.
The Tale of Ralph Marlin
Ralph Marlin was a fisherman who lived in a small village in Mexico. It has been very successful in his business and its inhabitants enjoyed everything. Ralph attributed his luck to the fact that it was a fish on a string around his neck. There hang the fish by the tail and then dance hoping to stir the spirits of the sea.
Ralph was truly loved by the people of Rosa Rita, Mexico because every time he strung that stinky dead fish around his neck, he would get the better decision. After he and his bird, beloved extinct in 60 years, residents of this small village erected a statue in his honor. This statue is still there today. Ralph Marlin was the inspiration for the first fish shaped necklace!
It all started with fish-shaped Ties
The idea of designing the infamous tie occurred in a sports bar on the west side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The first was designed on a napkin. This was the beginning of a company that would grow by leaps and bounds over the next 23 years.
The coach of the Milwaukee Bucks was the first person to wear this necklace fish. He created a movement to bring it to every game. Many people showed interest in buying their own links and if Ralph Marlin started producing ties of many different fish.
The company manufactures and sells more fish accessories infamous, but they are passed to things bigger and better. It now manufactures a complete line of neckties and provides a link specialty for almost everyone. They offering sports, music, art and professional ties. They also carry several products under license such as NFL ®, Harley Davidson ®, Peanuts ®, Family Guya ®, and three ® StoogesÂ.
Beyond Men's Ties
In addition, the Company also performs scarves, scarves, cummerbunds, boxers, lounge pants and lounge wear sets. Many of these series are available in the same designs are their links. There really is something for everyone!
