Glory White
The 27-year-old Swiss Roger Federer, won the glory on Sunday after beating Andy Roddick in an electrifying final at Wimbledon 5-7, 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 16-14. The match was 4 hours and 18 minutes and it was exciting from beginning to end.
Both players have played incredibly, But Roddick was too anxious to serve his 15th of the fifth series, and this lead to be used only has he lost the match but it was enough that the go triumph in the hands of Federer. Roddick played almost perfect throughout the match but he could not hold out any longer and the Swiss Federer outdone most Pete Sampras' Grand Slam titles record high as the best place positioning.
The game started really well for both players, but Roddick has something incredible in the first set, Federer broke serve to win the set 7-5. Things seemed really difficult for Switzerland's second round, thus American has not given easy options for Federer to break his service, but after going to a tiebreak, the Swiss proved why it is the best player in the world because he stayed calm and made some unbelievable plays having been conducted in the tiebreak and won the second set 7-6 (8-6) to tie the game.
In the third set, things were similar to that observed in the second; Roddick kept beating by not giving all opportunities to break Roger service whereas Federer was trying to do and even if he could not do, Federer has won the tie-break again in a great way to win the third set 7-6 (7-5).
However, things have changed during the fourth set and Roddick was more coherent than Federer, he was only 4 unforced errors compared with 7 of the Swiss Confederation which gave him an advantage, Federer broke serve to end the series 6-3.
During the final and decisive set, things were surprisingly tied between the two players who played hard and consistently and it seemed that the title could go either way. But in the end, Roger Federer has managed to Roddick will serve for the first time throughout the match in game 30 years and all he was, the Swiss was the winner and a champion of the tournament with a score of 16-14 fifth set that lasted 95 thrilling minutes.
During the ceremony, Federer could not contain his joy to surpass record Sampras and get the No. 1 ranking, but he also said he felt very happy for her best tennis against a great player like Roddick too. Furthermore, He said he knows he is going to take some time to learn the right way, he earned the title of 15th Grand Slam of his career and what it means for the world of sport.
"I've never been in a match that ended 16-14 in the fifth set, so it was a special moment, although everything still seems pretty crazy. It will take some time to digest what I did because it was a historic day for me and for tennis. It's amazing that I am the main character in such a wonderful trip and I could not go to bed on Sunday night because I was still so excited by what I had done, "said the Swiss and now the No. 1 in the world.
On the other hand, Roddick has expressed its disappointment that the loser after playing an incredible way, but said he knew he was facing the best player of all time and has also performed in an excellent way not to give up any time during the game.
