Kids Khaki
When it comes to Halloween costumes, we still decided to make our own because we felt it was foolish spend $ 35 or more for a costume that our child would only wear once. Over the years, my sister, brother and I made many costumes for our children and I thought I would share some simple ideas with you.
If you are concerned about security, I recommend the purchase of certain patches reflective material to your local fabric and craft store and sew or glue them on your child's costume. This security measure will help motorists to see them at night as they cross the street. I always recommend that a responsible adult accompany children on Trick or Treat night.
Here are ideas for Halloween costumes we've made over the years.
Female Bug - You will need: red leotards, tights red, 4 sheets of black felt and glue fabric. Cut Out circles and ovals of felt and glue on the red coat to look like patches Lady Bug. To make antennas, buying a black headband, 2 Round 3 "Styrofoam balls in diameter, 2 pencils, black acrylic paint and glue gorilla. Paint the Styrofoam balls and pencils and let dry. Glue pens for the center of the Styrofoam balls, let dry and then paste the pencils top of the band head.
Note: You can use the same concept above and make a bell and replace clothing with red clothes yellow and black felt to bee striped style.
Construction worker - You will need: denim blue jeans, white T-shirt, flannel shirt and a yellow hat hard plastic found in a toy store discount. You can borrow tool belt of a man or buy a linen apron with style pockets at a local craft store for a few dollars. If you wish, visit your local dollar discount store and buy a plastic tool set to dip into the pockets of the tool belt.
Golfer - You will need: a khaki-colored trousers, polo-style shirt and a plaid golf course. You can buy golf clubs and rubber bullets at your local dollar discount store. We made our own golf bag, emptying a large round tube and cardboard painting with acrylics. Drill a hole on each side of the tube and the string to tie a carrying strap. You can adapt 3-4 golf courses in the plastic holder and ask your child carries on his shoulder.
Nurse - You will need: white skirt, shirt, tights and shoes that your child The most likely is already in her closet. To add to this, buying a child nurses size of the CAP in a costume shop with a doctor plastic kit to your local dollar discount store. We also increased the white shirt with a name badge and a felt red cross first aid we drew his hand and safety pinned to the shirt.
Mummy - You need: white clothing, a ski mask white, white sneakers, several rolls of bandages and first aid first white safety pins numerous. We cut the bandages in 12-24 "lengths and security around Favorites legs, arms and abdomen of all. We chose to use fabric glue to attach them to the ski mask blank. If you made this costume for a small child, I recommend the use of nontoxic fabric glue instead of safety pins.
Black Spider - You will need: black jeans, sweat-shirt, 2 pairs of black tights girls, 1 bag of fiberfill stuffing, black thread. You need to cut off part of the panties and pantyhose using just legs. Stuff each leg firmly with fiberfill and then sew the ends closed with thread. Do this for a total of 4 legs spider. You want to hand sew (or sewing machine) stuffed legs on the sides of the sweat-shirt about 4-5 "under the arm sweatshirt. If you wish, you can paint their faces black or lime green with children's face paint.
Pencil - You will need: your choice clothing color, we have selected to match the orange with the Halloween theme, with several sheets of black felt adhesive fabric and black fabric paint. Enter one of your child crayons and use it as an example of how you should split your drawings in black felt. Attach designs in clothing so it looks like a pencil. You can use fabric paint black paint on the name crayon makers on the front of the shirt. To better adapt to our theme, we have machine sewn a hat corresponding triangular orange felt so that "our" little crayon had a high sharp crayon.
