Leather Athletic
How do I paint on the leather sport shoes?
I was commissioned to paint on Leather Sneakers. I want that painting and the last to remain in the purchaser a long time. How do I prep the surface and seal the deal? I read to use acetone, but then a shoe repair guy said "No way, not on the leather"! He said just take off the finish with paint thinner. Help!
I painted my leather jacket with a skull and crossbones. I used acrylic. I did not "remove the finish line. I used some Windex to clean hair but other than that Nadda. I treat him badly too, and he stayed for over a year. I do not seal she. Shoes for you I Skuff the rough surface first with sandpaper .... not really, but Kinda gross. There may be waxes, etc. on the surface that you want not. Then use a tack cloth to remove any dust. I would go ahead and use a backing fabric with your painting. A homogeneous mixture is what is normally used for shirts. This would Flexability so it does not crack after it had been dealt a certain time. For the sealer I would go to the leather shop and use what they sell to seal the leather. There several brands I would not use a varnish-type fabric.
