Leather Pink
How do you remove the brands of ballpoint pen ink pink leather purse / diary?
I stupidly put a biro type next to a newspaper dear in my pink leather bag, where unsightly marks on the paper again. All products or advice recommended for removal please? Thank you.
This will depend on what type of leather you have. If the ink is on a pigmented leather then The first thing you should try is an ink stick (find one who is a professional product used in the industry - LTT do one). The most fresh ink you have the chance to abolish it. Remember to check the type of leather you have before it as if you use a style of aniline it will not work and may leave a greasy mark which will not disappear. If an ink stick does not work a stripper based solvents will be used and it will also remove the end of May and the pigment is best left to experts. Use hairspray/WD40 and all these other solvent cleaners is very risky because it can make things worse as it spreads ink over a bigger area and can sometimes be impossible to correct. Use of alcohol, perfume, etc. may also be a little risky depending on how stable the finish is. If the finish is unstable this would remove the pigmentation of the skin. Solvent nail polish or other solvents will also remove the finish and pigment which must be replaced. DO NOT USE wipes babies because they are the worst thing you can use on leather as they break down the finish and will eventually ruin it. A professional leather cleaner would never use their leather and DFS do not give advice on proper leather care because their staff are not trained. Please try no milk or toothpaste these are silly ideas that leave sticky residue on the surface which will help break the finish on your leather. Magic erasers usually remove finish and pigment with the ink. Old ink will be harder to remove than new ink and may mean the use of solvents which will also remove the finish line. This is probably best left to experts. Silicones / furniture polish are the worst thing to use on leather as they form a coating on the surface of the leather that does not allow moisture to get to the leather and will eventually break all the finish down and make it crack. Leather has no need for air conditioning it needs cleaning and protecting on a regular basis with products based on water this will keep the rehydrated and flexible. Oils will make things much worse. Leather should be cleaned gently not scrubbed so 'elbow grease' will only cause damage to the finish. Hide food will not remove ink and leave residues on the leather which will attract dirt and oils. Using a protector of good quality leather (one that works) will help make this problem easier should it happen again, he also does your leather good by protecting it against oils and dirt which Finally, the pigment crack and the leather deteriorate. If the ink on an aniline leather then there is nothing that works if leather cleaner has not. Basically you redyed leather and you need a specialist to resolve the problem.
