leather shoes are not waterproof, but there are different products on the market to help make leather water and weatherproof. my dad sprays his leather shoes with WD-40 and it seems to work. Some people use baby oil to keep leather soft, supple and rain resistant, and on salty winter days vaseline removes the old salt and keeps new salt from leaving those white stains. Both oil and vaseline can discolor some leathers. There are much safer options for weather proofing shoes.

Check a better as in expensive shoe store for products, or check a shoe repair shop, they carry waxes and oils that will make your leather Shoes Water and weather proof. I live in Canada and I wear leather boots in the wind rain and snow, but I use products that keep them looking good. Mink oil works like magic for leather winter boots and makes them almost completely waterproof. There's also beeswax, silicone treatments...plenty of options.
