1. Create the right ambiance.
Create a fun and festive atmosphere from the moment the guests arrive by using tropical adornments at the party entrance. Luau lights, island music, and balloons with an island motif all make excellent mood setters. You'll want to choose décor and entertainment that matches your daughter's personality. For an evening beach luau, adorn each table with a thematic candle or tea light holder. Tropical floral arrangements also provide a beautiful touch, or use synthetic flowers if fresh flowers aren't in your budget
2. Consider the entertainment options.
Consider a hula dance performance. Many areas offer performances by young hula dance troops and clubs at a relatively low cost. Hula dancers earn money to support their dance programs, and partygoers are treated to an island dance extravaganza. Depending on your budget, you will also want to choose options for music. A Hawaiian band may be a fun idea, or you may want a DJ to play the latest popular music for your daughter and her pals to dance to.
3. Plan the menu.
A true luau usually includes Hawaiian festival dishes, most notably a whole roast pig and poi. Go all out if your budget allows, or create your own variations on traditional Hawaiian dishes. Serve roast pork and veggie kabobs, rice and salad side dishes, and a tropical fruit salad that includes favorites like pineapple, mango, and coconut. 4. Make it a party to remember.
Provide party favors for your guests to thank them for attending, and to provide mementos that will memorialize the event.
