Reebok was founded in 1895 in Bolton, England by JW Foster. In its first incarnation, the company was simply called JW Foster and Sons objective. Foster was simple: make a running shoe that allowed athletes to run faster. His solution was to add points to the bottom of the plant a time when very few shoe manufacturers have been using this technology.

Foster's was an elite clientele. He designed shoes for the best athletes in the world. In fact, many athletes in 1924 Olympic Summer shoes have been designed by JW Foster and Sons.

JW Foster and Sons does not become Reebok until 1958 when the grand-son Joe and Jeff Foster (JW's) renamed the company. Reebok is the Afrikaans spelling of rhebok, which is a species of African antelope. The spelling was somewhat of an accident. Joe and Jeff found the word in a dictionary of South Africa that Joe had won as a child.

The shoes are not available for the U.S. market until 1979 when the American Paul Fireman ran through the Reebok shoes at a fair international trading. When Reeboks were first published by the United States, they cost $ 60 and are the most expensive shoes in motion being sold at the time.

Reebok has really taken off in the years 1980 when women's sports shoes market. While companies like Nike Reebok remains dominated when it comes to sneakers, Reebok is the lion among competitors when it came to aerobics. The Reebok Freestyle was published in 1982 (high-top version in 1985), and it quickly became a sensation cultural. The male version of the Freestyle, called Ex-O-Fit, followed shortly after. With bright colors and Velcro, the Freestyle and Ex-O-Fit has been identified 80's fashion.

During the 1980s the popularity of Reebok has exploded in the international markets, with the brand eventually become available in over 170 countries. In the last decade, Reebok has partnered with the National Football League, National Basketball Association and National Hockey League. Spokesperson for the brand included the likes of Jay-Z, Lucy Liu and Allen Iverson.

In January 2006, Reebok was bought by Adidas and is now a subsidiary of the company. Adidas, which is officially one of the major competitors for Reebok, paid 3.8 billion dollars. Later in the year in November the National Basketball Association and Women's National Basketball Association has decided to replace the brand Reebok for their goods with adidas adidas reason is best known Outside the U.S. and UK markets from Reebok.
