The Mont Blanc Meisterstuck 146 is a vintage fountain pen. The Mont Blanc company began to gain wide appeal and international recognition in the 1920s with the invention of a high-end fountain pen known as the Meisterstuck.
The Mont Blanc Meisterstuck 146 is a fine writing instrument that is all about comfort, high-end design and quality. The craftsmanship that has gone into the creation of these pens is of the highest quality and allows for a smooth flow of ink. While the Meisterstuck 146 is a famous vintage pen, there have been fake models included in the market. There are certain characteristics that the original ones will have that the fakes will be missing.
Middle Band Lettering: To determine if your MontBlanc 146 is an authentic one, look at the middle band of the cap for the brand name. The letters that read "Mont Blanc Meisterstück" should be etched in, evenly spaced out and slanted towards the left in a diagonal manner. The 146 model should also read "Pix" on this middle band. The top and bottom of the brand name should have a single ring.
Fake Nibs: Authentic Meisterstück nibs should not read "Iridium" or "Paris" on the nibs. Instead they should have the numbers 4810, a letter M, and the name "Montblanc." The numbers 585 or 750 should follow the name as they indicate the amount of gold.
Aside from these very distinct characteristics, there are other minor details that authentic Meisterstück 146 pens will have. These include the position of the cap, the clip ball, the box and pricing. A sure sign of a fake is a very cheap price-it's just too good to be true.
