Para Troop
How can I as a civilian join indian para commando force?
Precisely I want to know that how after crossing the age of 24 and being a normal civilian I can join para commando troops of indian army, navy or air force and what are the terms and conditions involved in it? Furthermore what kind of job I will have to carry out while in emergency and normal conditions.........
Sorry to disappoint you pal, but there's no such thing as joining the Indian Army's Para Commandos or any other Indian Special Force (IN MARCOS or IAF Garud) as a civilian. If you're a civilian, you ain't in the military and if you're in the military, you ain't a civilian anymore.
Just for your information, the Para Commandos are Special Forces of the Regular Indian Army. Don't let the term "para" fool you into thinking it's some kind of a rag-tag, ad hoc paramilitary force that even possibly has civilian volunteers. Here, the "para" is more to denote that troops of these elite units are parachute trained. The Indian Army has a regular airborne infantry regiment called the Parachute Regiment. Of its many units, only its 1st, 2nd, 9th, 10th and 21st battalions have been designated as Para (SF) or Special Forces. Troops and officers of these units have an extremely tough probation phase and they are only confirmed in the unit once they complete it.
You're already 24 and almost out of time. Else, I'd have suggested you take the CDS exams and join the OTA, Chennai for a last chance at ever making it into the Para (SF).
If not, find something else you're good at and pay your motherland back by doing well in that area.
