Winklepickers (also known as Winkle Pickers) are a style of shoe or boot worn from the 1950s by the British rock male and female fans and roll. The feature which gives both the boot and shoe their name is very strong and very long pointed toe, reminiscent of shoes Medieval and approximately the same as your toes are long and pointy shoes on the way some women and boots today. This indicated toe was called Winkle picker toe because, in England, winkles are eaten with a pin or pointed object to get the winkle out of the shell (hence the term "to winkle something").

The men's shoes were laced style Oxford with a low heel and an exaggerated pointed toe. Winklepickers with stiletto heels for women swept the UK in the fifties and at one point the High Street versions were worn by almost all English females who wore high-heeled shoes. They were often made in Italy, but the versions hand, including shoes Stan Battersea were the most extreme, if somewhat bulky looking at the tip from the Italian style.
Years 1960 Original Winkle picker stilettos were similar to the pointed tip which has long been fashionable on women's shoes and boots in Europe lately. The toe strong long was paired with a stiletto heel (or heel edge) which, as now, could be as small as an inch and a half or higher five inches, though most were three to four inches of. Indeed, although the Winklepicker looks lethal, it would be much more likely if the damage to be caused the shoe gently pointed than the opponent in any serious incident kicked, and it is very unlikely that a fashion-person conscious 1960s, have submitted a prized pair of expensive Italian imports or custom original Stan this kind of abuse.
It also seems have been a practice among women becoming more liberated and send youth to use the pointed tip of their shoes to the surprise and perhaps embarrass their male partners by prodding their private parts under tables in public places. They are also worn by English comedian Noel Fielding, English DJ and presenter Television Alex Zane, and singer of Kaiser Chiefs' Lead: Ricky Wilson.
Although slightly pointed tips are often a feature fashion shoes for women, they are usually present "tamed down" or reduced (often with a sacrifice of space comfortable toe) for a more common use. The really extended Winklepicker toe Stiletto-heeled shoes for women has been recently reintroduced by most of English shoe designers Roger and Sarah Adams for their manufacture RoSa Italian Shoes collection http://www.rosashoes.com designed to satisfy a perceived market niche rather than continue following the fashion trends of the season.
