Ideas for Primary Schools run the program?
My son's elementary school has a program that goes where the children run laps during recess and have a laminated card pressing after each round. The goal is overall fitness, and 26.2 1/5th mile run schools throughout the year. 11 ran more than 100 miles (two of them more than 200 miles). We want to improve the overall program - so I appreciate the idea. We also want to get free swag for the kids from walking or other companies - especially t-shirts for all and shoes for disadvantaged children. Any idea here is to be appreciated as well. Now the program recognizes the children with medals for each 26.2 trophies (one different) and for 100 miles. There is also a thermometer wall paper with milage and increase children's names at the foot of the paper at the appropriate level.
Why not have fund raiser where the kids can go around and ask neighbors / friends to sponsor them say 10 cents a lap. At the end of fundrasier that (has been gone for a month?) Money raised will go towards shoes, shirts, running gear, etc for all those involved and the award may go to the children who ran the most, the children who raised the most, etc. That the way you also get the community involved! Then the other fun things-a teacher (s) who will do something crazy if they achieve certain goals-shaved head them, wearing crazy clothes to school, etc. Kids eat that up! Hope that helps!
