Hair alcohol testing is a relatively new form of screening for drugs and alcohol, but all other forms of testing there, how does it compare and is it safe?
 
How it works
A small sample of hair is taken from the scalp, it is usually just below the scalp near the hairline. It is then subject to judicial process patented using a gas liquid chromatograph to search ethyl ether fatty acid or FAEE and ethyl glucuronide, ETG or markers. These markers are only produced when alcohol is in the bloodstream. The more alcohol a person consumes the largest amount of FAEE ETG and markers are present in the hair. It is completely safe and healthy. As haircut, it's not like a massage by any means, but it is without pain.

No hair color, discoloration or physical damage (which is not obvious) can hide the truth of what your body has consumed. A single head shaving is the only way to truly remove the evidence. In fact, everything you put in your body indicates your hair in the head. When something is ingested into your body, it breaks down and ends up in your bloodstream that nourishes your hair. Body Hair reveals not as much because you're the blood reaches out to all parts of hair and amount of your actual drug is diluted in the process. With hair, however, concentrations of real abuse of drugs or alcohol are found.
The interesting thing about alcohol testing of hair is the period of time it can be. A sample of urine can prove the evidence of alcohol for a limited time. The alcohol evaporates quickly in the breath as well. Therefore, a policeman or woman can detect current levels of alcohol in the blood of a person the scene, but it is impossible to obtain an accurate account of abuse days or weeks later. With alcohol testing of hair evidence one week before can be detected! Did you drink two weeks ago? This can be found months later.
 
The least intrusive method of testing
Unlike alcohol testing urine or saliva swab in the mouth, alcohol testing of hair can be done outdoors if necessary and does not require a doctor's office or time away from work, school or other. A certified nurse / practitioner may well come to a person's home or office.

• Employers are investing in technology to ensure that the person they hire is qualified to technical or mentally demanding jobs. If the employer can feel good about hiring a surgeon who has a criminal record Virgin, for example, they will hire that person for someone else who may not have a squeaky clean record.
